Nintendo Direct is where we host our biggest announcements.
Highly visible
Directs are a high impact, highly visible project. E3 Directs gain viewership in the millions. With this comes high stakes, and rapid deadlines. Usually having under an hour to develop new portions of the site to the viewers.
Secret
The announcements in a Direct are secret - some even to me! I'll get to know a few games, but some I won't know until the Direct is playing. For this, the site is built for quick updates.
Secure
Added security around this site in the form of launch approval process, and disclosures.
Templated
Developed the template to handle 3 main Direct types: Multi title, Single title, and Mini.
Segment viewer
Included a modal to navigate through individual segments of the Direct.
"Always something"
Templates are great, but it seems there is always something to break your template. One example, was this treehouse live segment that needed to be supported. I learned about it as the Direct was playing, and had added it to the page before the Direct ended.
